What you can put in your Bin
BLACK BIN
Blister Packs, (from pills/medicine), bubble wrap, cat litter/cat waste (bagged please), cat food pouches, cling film, crisp packets, dog waste (bagged please), dust/dirt (bagged please), egg boxes (card /polystyrene), food pouches, food waste, general/mixed household waste, glass (broken – please double wrap), nappies (bagged please), paint tins (empty or dry), plastic carrier bags (please try to reuse /recycle at supermarket recycling points),plastic wrap/film, polystyrene containers/packaging/meat trays, polystyrene chippings (please bag or place in centre of black bin), plumbing fittings (plastic) rubber gloves, shredded paper, small items (smaller than 4cm), toothpaste tubes, vacuum cleaner contents (bagged please), video and audio cassettes, wallpaper.
Please ensure the lid of your black bin can be closed
Please do not place garden waste in your black bin – sign up to the garden waste scheme at your local council
Before disposing of an item always consider whether it can be recycled, reused or donated to your local charity shop.
Items not suitable for the black bin
Asbestos, Batteries, Builders/construction waste, electrical, garden waste, gas canisters, glass bottles/jars, glass tumblers/panes, light bulbs/florescent tube lights, motor oil. For further information on disposing of these items please contact your local council or waste recycling centre.
GREEN BIN
Aerosol cans, aluminium cans/foil, books, bottle tops, butter tubs, cardboard, catalogues, cereal boxes, christmas cards, cleaning fluid bottles (wash, squash and put top back on), deodorant roller bottles (empty with lids on) drink bottles, drink cans, envelopes, food cans (steel or aluminium) fruit juice cartons, greeting cards, ice cream tubs, jar lids, junk mail (please remove any plastic wrapping), margarine tubs, milk cartons, metal pots/pans/trays, newspaper, packing boxes (cardboard), plastic bottles, paper, plastic tubs, shampoo/conditioner bottles, telephone directories, tetra-pak drink/soup/juice cartons, tin foil (rolled into a tennis ball size) tissue paper, washing powder boxes, washing up liquid bottles, wrapping paper, waxed paper and card, yogurt pots.
Items not suitable for the green bin
batteries, crisp packets, electrical, garden waste, glass, food pouches, food waste, nappies, plastic bags, plastic wrap/film, polystyrene, shredded paper (shiny) shredded paper (plain) small items (smaller than 4cm), textiles and clothing.

GARDEN BIN
Grass, leaves, weeds, flowers,plants, hedge clippings, branches (not more than 6cm thick) pruning and twigs, windfall fruit, hay, straw, bedding from non meat eating animals, vegetable waste, shredded paper (plain only).
Items not suitable for the garden bin
Food or kitchen waste, soil, cat or dog faeces, vacuum dust or cinders, oil, stones, rubble, wood that has been treated or painted, plastic flower pots, trays or bags, invasive weeds such as common ragwort or Japanese knotweed
